Blog Post #6:

Currently, I am observing a class at The Florida State University School. I decided to go and see the school's page and see what a Theater teacher had written in their website. I found Mrs. Allen Terice, and after reading her introduction I find her so interesting. You can tell that she is passionate about teaching art.
I also noticed that she uploaded a calendar with all the classes activities. This calendar is available although you don't have an account in the website. Which I think is really useful for parents that are considering if they should enroll their children in this school.
I see myself using technology to accomplish several of my professional responsibilities more efficiently. First of all, I think that the age of technology has facilitated communication between parents, students, and teachers in a whole new way. I think that it will be easy to reach parents via E-mail to schedule a meeting or even let them know about important things that are going on with their children. Secondly, I think that technology will enable me to keep score of my student's grades in an easier and more manageable way. Lastly, I think that I will be able to create more creative and complete class plans using resources online. I feel like technology would definitely make my job as a teacher much easier than what it would have been twenty or even ten years ago. Regarding to our field trip to the Tech Sandbox, I absolutely loved the place! I definitely saw potential in all of the gadgets and resources they have there. One that really struck my attention was the augmented reality devices. I can see really good lesson plans using these devices in order to creatively and visually teach students information. For example, they showed us how the students could see the planets and name them. Because the information is being shown in such a creative and colorful way my guess is that It will definitely stay in their memory longer. This can not only be used for astronomy but also anatomy or any natural science. I am also very optimistic with the potential of these devices to help develop the student's creativity. They can use them to create their presentations and teach them to the class. After this field trip I cannot shake the feeling that we are currently experiencing the future we envisioned as children!
